Precious Time With God

Luke 10:23-24

I was invited to an event by three different people to see a famous woman that I admired. Unfortunately, I did not feel well that evening so I had to decline all of the offers. The next morning the news and social media were abuzz about how fabulous the event was and I was so sad that I had missed it. It seemed like everyone I knew was at that once in a lifetime event.

Jesus tells the disciples that they are blessed to see and hear what he is doing. Jesus further explains that there are some leaders who desired to hear and see what the disciples experienced but they did not have the opportunity that the disciples had. The disciples had an up close and personal encounter with Jesus’ personhood, his teachings and miracles performed. Jesus wanted the disciples to understand that they were privileged to spend precious time with him that no one else after them ever would; the disciples had a once in a lifetime opportunity.

How often does the Holy Spirit prompt us to pause so we can spend precious time in the Bible, the word of God? This verse demonstrates that God wants to privately spend time with us so we can see and hear what he is doing in our lives. We should not want to miss any opportunity to connect with God.

Prayer: Father God, we thank you that you are interested in having a relationship with us. We are grateful that you seek to spend precious time connecting with us as your dear children. Amen.
